Classical vs. Keynsian Economics Essay Example for Free

Classical vs. Keynsian Economics Essay There are several significant factors that differentiate Classical from Keynesian economics. Classical economics stays true to the laissez-faire concept of no government mediation in businesses with the assumption that the economy will work itself out. Keynesian economics, on the other hand, revolves around deficit spending and the belief that essentially â€Å"in the long run, we’re all going to die†. Both schools of economics take a different stance on the behavior of consumers, fiscal policy, and government spending. Classical economists, in essence, monitor what is currently transpiring in the economy. They believe that the economy is stable and self-sustaining because in the long run, the market supposedly automatically adjusts to â€Å"booms† and â€Å"busts†. This principle is heavily influenced by the epoch of industrialization – during and after. In a Classical economic model, economists consent individuals’ actions and desires, thus allowing prices to fluctuate based on that individuals’ needs. Say’s Law explicates this phenomenon by saying that supply creates its own demand and in result, the economy is stimulated when more goods are produced. Furthermore, Classicalists do not act with fiscal policies and strongly believe the notion that government spending impedes a nation’s economic growth Keynesian economists believe that the government is imperfect and is not able to sustain itself so government intervention is not only beneficial, but also crucial to mediate the economy. Their stance on fiscal policy is to either contract or expand the economy with specific tools depending on the gap in the economy. In a Keynesian economic model, economists rely on government spending to jumpstart an economy if it was dragged down into a depression. When there is a lack of growth, the government should stimulate demand. Personally, I would agree with Classical economics, but with all the assumptions present it is nearly impossible to side with them. Most of the assumptions are not true and are essential to accurately find a solution to economic problems. For instance, President Ronald Reagan was big on the  theory of hands-off business, yet he plundered the nation into the most drastic deficit; more than all of his predecessors combined. Not having government intervention is nearly impossible since there is always a need to mediate the economy. I would side more with Keynesian economics since there is almost always a practical solution to a problem. In other words, it is like an algorithm: you need so much to get the desired output. For instance, in the Great Depression of 2008, the government efficiently used expansionary fiscal policy to boost the economy. Government spending was vastly increased, as well as taxes. Our economy was gradually remedied by the policies that were enacted upon, thus my reason for siding with Keynesian economics.

Comparing Idealism And Realism Philosophy Essay

Comparing Idealism And Realism Philosophy Essay Idealist, idealized, ideal (adjective), and the ideal (noun), all of are derived from the Greek idea which means new thought flashed across the mind. This signifies image, figure, form: it can be used in the sense of likeness, or copy as well as in that of type, model, or pattern: it is this latter sense that finds expression in ideal, and the ideal and the derivatives are mentioned above. When we talk about the ideal or idealism, it is not the copy of a out of the world image or object, but it is only a type which can be a thought. It cannot beyond reality but it can only be a fairer, nobler and the most perfect which exists in reality. [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/idealism (23-Nov-2010)] It is the characteristics of those people who respect the ideas and who pays respect the truth According to Plato, visible world is simply a copy of a super sensible, intelligible, ideal world and consequently things are but the impress stamped on reality by that which is of a higher, spiritual nature. It is just a technical term which was made by Plato and it has a vital and important affect on the task to be attained and it has significance influence on the people. It has a impressive affect on reality which help in obtaining the higher level or we can say spiritual nature. There are two theories which are interrelated to each other, Idealism and other is Realism. Plato is in favour of Idealism and hence known as Platonism while Aristotle is in favour of reality and so called as Realism. Platonism is one of the oldest form idealism and is in favour of the idealist to long extent. Normally, it is the contrast comparison of the both the philosophies of Idealism and Realism. Realism does not support the new concepts and thoughts but it is in favour of the real world and supports the things as they happen which is just the copies of every day life. Plato is in favour of the idealism and therefore it is considered to be more accurate and correct as idealism is more important in teaching and it helps in putting new ideas into art. Both, Aristotle and Plato have a vital influence on the Greek life, their life style, their style of thinking and their actions which carries the deep moral and ethical influence on their life. On the basis of these theories and the ir deep influence, convicted the first and highest principle of all things is the one perfect spiritual which is the transcendental idealism of Plato and with which they call God and by which means of intermediate principles, essence and form, purpose and law, and some of the working individual which obey these principles are the visible world. So, idealism is the doctrine philosophy which leads towards the high spiritual principles and which lowers downs the materialism. On the base of these characteristics, idealism is being called as the dual characteristic philosophy and it is against the single characteristic philosophy which describes as the higher and the lower are same. The principle philosophy of higher is against the philosophy of the lower material and again this philosophy is against the single characteristic philosophy or doctrine. When we talk about the older version of the idealism, it clearly indicates that there is no one which is One- All, but there are different i ndividuals who have some different roles and they have some specific features and there is certainly some alpha and omega i.e. a supermundane cause and end of the world. I affirm without hesitation that the assertion, the existence of the world consists merely in our thinking, is for me the result of a hypertrophy of the passion for knowledge. To this conclusion I have been lead chiefly by the torture I endure in getting over idealism. Whosoever attempts to take this theory in downright earnest, to force his way clean through it and identify himself with it, will certainly feel that something is about to snap in his brain. (Jerusalem, Die Urtheilsfunktion, Vienna, 1886, p. 261). J. Volkelt (Erfahrung u. Denken, Hamburg, 1886, p. 519); It should kept in mind that the term, idea has a lot of contents and should be so far degraded as to signify such aberrations of thought. Geschichte des Idealismus (2nd ed., Brunswick, 1907) has taken the ground that the original meaning of these terms should be restored to them. Realism Realism is the philosophy which can be described as the independent of conceptual schemes, having linguistics practices, beliefs, etc. According to the international business point of view, it is the dominant thinking within the international relations which is interlink with the ideology, security, morality, reconstructions, socialism and political realm. Most of the philosophers who are in favour of the realism, they believe in reality having strict point of view against idealism and they are the speaking to the other minds, their past, present and future as well. Realism deals with the universalism, morality, materialism, thinking, and natural numbers as well. The people who believe in realism, they consider the reality and how approximate is the reality, they also believe that whenever there will be any new observation, it helps the individuals to come closer to each other and they are against idealism and anti realism. The philosopher has been discussing on the realism. While discussing, they have been looking for the true meanings of the realism and the origin of realism. They have been discussing this issue from so long and the history of philosophy is full of this discussion. If we talk about the medieval interpretation and adaptation of Greek philosophy, it clearly signifies that the origin of this term Real is from the medieval period and according to this philosophy, the meaning of this word is some thing different and in present it means opposite. It should also be kept in mind that realism is the contrasting philosophy of conceptualism, nominalism and idealism. The philosophers who have been discussing realism have found out the problems which a universe has been facing and these problems are being called as the problems of universals which is a term that does not describes a single individual but it is being applied on many things and hence it is believed that realism is the thing which really exist and it is associated with other things and also to the world. When we consider it to be associated with the world, we can definitely say that it is linked with Plato. It should also be considered that conceptualism exists in this world but this is the on ly thing which exists in mind and moderate realism say that it exists in some specific things where as philosophers when they start discussion about the nominalism, they say that universals do not exist at all and this is to be believed that realism exists in the world from the centuriesand. In its Kantian sense, realism is contrasted with idealism. In a contemporary sense, realism is contrasted with anti-realism, primarily in the philosophy of science. Conversational is simplicity and oneness with nature. Idealism vs. Realism To make the clear differences, it is necessary to understand the clearly idealism and realism. Idealism is to see things in a way as we want where as realism is to see the things as they happen in a current situation and what they are and how they are. Idealism is the philosophy that describes that the current situation is being shaped into by our thoughts while realism is independent of our thoughts but its the existence. A person, who believes in idealism, always looks for the good and he can be less affective while a person who believes in realism can be more affective. Idealists are more positive where as realists are less positive. Idealists are more goal ambitious as compared to realists.

My Experiences as a Learner :: Personal Narrative Learning Education Papers

My Experiences as a Learner I was in first grade and her name was Sister Carol Anne. She even spelled Anne the same way I spelled my middle name Anne which made her better. She was amazing she had this way of always making everyone in the class feel equal. We never knew who received the high grades and who received the low grades. We all were working "as hard as we could" she would say and that was all that mattered. Sister Carol also had ways of showing us how to help each other out. If a few students didn't get it then the students who did understand would teach the other students. Looking back I'm skeptical because that might unintentionally separate the students into "smart" and "stupid" groups. However, I remember that at some point or another everyone in that class needed help and everyone was able to teach. She exemplified for us that teaching is more helping and guiding instead of ruling and ordering. I think after that class was when I decided I wanted to be a teacher. It wavered on and off throughout my education but it started there in the first grade. The next significant grades I remember were third grade and fourth grade for the teaching style and the classroom atmosphere respectively. In third grade my teacher was Sister Edwardine (in case there is still any confusion I went to Catholic school my entire life.) I remember her specifically because she taught with stuffed animals. We were taught to respect nature and every organism around us, because we are all equal, by using these animals. Everyday, if we behaved, a few students in the class were given an animal to care for and we had to treat it as if it were a real creature. We didn't get to choose our animal however, and I see now how profound her rationale was. She said we didn't get to choose our animals because in life we don't get to choose who is around us in our community and who isn't. She was teaching us that we aren't always going to have the ability to chose who and what surrounds us but we must respect them all for their differences. I remember specifically the day she bought us two new animals. They were a male and female skunk. And when the students gathered to name them a few students starting mocking and calling them insulting names.

Electricity Essay -- Electricity History Discovery Essays

Electricity The effects of electricity control much of our daily lives. Many of our gadgets and everyday tasks are run by this wonderful source of power. For example without electricity we would not be able to make a cup of coffee in the mourning, or even make a long distance call to family or friends. There have been several technological breakthroughs by many brilliant people throughout history regarding electricity. It has come from being discovered as a small current to being transformed into useful power to run such things as computers. Ben Franklin, Guglielmo Marconi, Thomas Edison, Paul Nipkow, and Charles Babbage have all contributed to the advancement of electricity, and all of their advancements have supplied society in many ways. Benjamin Franklin was a brilliant scientist who invented many useful things. Although throughout his experiments and inventions, he was curious about one special thing. "He was so curious in fact that his experiments toward electricity took up over four years of his life, and devoured over one half of his of profits of his printing business" (Fleming 4). After many trials and experiments, he discovered this power source while flying a kite during a lightning storm. "Through his loses he turned this new born curiosity into a full fledged branch of science." (Fleming 4) His findings led to many other scientists to test on this phenomenon and invent many practical and useful things that led to the expansion of human knowledge. Many of these inventions were used to better everyday human life. l Thomas Edison was another intelligent scientist that used the findings of Ben Franklin to invent a contraption called the light bulb. At the time of Edison?s findings, there was only gas and cand... ...othing like what are computers are today, it still started the ball rolling for the invention of many practical and useful computers today. Each of these men have contributed to our society in their own special way . Each of their creative minds brought something into this world that has changed it forever. Without men like these brilliant scientist our world would never prosper and grow like it has. Bibliography - Baldwin, Neil. Edison Inventing the century. Eric Chen Speech1 2/21/13 Politician Mitt Romney once said, â€Å"Leadership is about taking responsibility, not making excuses. † All of us want to accomplish something in our lives; we want to be leaders of our own, in order to do that we have to stop making excuses. I looked through the internet and I got information about leaders in our society and I researched one of them. Today I will answer the question â€Å"Who is Michal Jordan? † you will see that he is a leader who has had a tremendous impact on society through his sense of vision, his ability to motivate, and his ability to handle conflict.Stay in tune as we learn about one of the greatest NBA Legends of all time. First of all, Jordan had a sense of vision; some people would give up after being cut from the varsity team but not Jordan. According to his biography, when Michal Jordan was cut from the varsity team as a sophomore he started working harder according to him, â€Å"Whenever I was working out and g ot tired and figured I ought to stop, I’d close my eyes and see that list in the locker room without my name on it and that usually got me going again† Later on Jordan made the team again and led them to a state champion. He has shown the world that people can do what they envision if they work hard enough. Jordan can do more than work hard to fulfill his visions he can help others achieve their goals too. Second of all, Jordan had the ability to motivate his teammates. In his biography, he would always tell his teammates whenever they were underperforming and urge them to work harder. With Jordan motivating his teammates they worked hard and successfully defended the title for two more seasons.Jordan can also handle conflict. Lastly, Jordan could handle conflict. Jordan had many conflicts throughout his career but because he was a leader he overcame each and every one of them. According to his biography in the 1985-86 season he broke his leg but at the end he came back stronger than ever scoring 43. 7 ppg. His ability to handle conflict allowed him to lead his NBA team to championship after championship. My Ideal Spouse

Marriage is the most important and difficult thing in one’s life, so we have to choose our life partner prudently. When I was a little girl, like many other girls, I had dreams of marrying a prince riding a white horse on the green pasture and seek for perfect guy. After I grew up, I realized that it is not likely to happen. As I think of my ideal spouse, many traits and qualities come to my mind. Of many qualities, I am going to give 3 most important things that I would look for my ideal spouse. First of all, my spouse should be naive.Meaning of ‘naive’ is ranging over a broad gamut, but what I mean is not to smoke, drink, etc. Nowadays many people especially the students are polluted by hazardous things, such as smoking, drinking, watching AV†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦ However, I don’t like smoking and drinking. Moreover, by smoking and drinking, people’s health will be undermined and they will more likely to make a mistake. One of my neighbors was divorced. On e day, the patriarch of that family had a drinking party at the bar and he had drunk a lot at there. He drank so much that he cannot control himself. One girl worked at the bar came to him and seduce him.Unfortunately, he couldn’t resist to the allurement and made a big mistake. As a result, they have divorce. Secondly, I would like to marry a man who is faithful. I want my spouse to make me trust him that he will love me forever. Trust between each other is an important thing, once a person back down on one’s trust, it’s almost impossible to regain it. To friends, trust means friendship; to husband and wife, trust means marriage; trust is kind of relationship. For example, one day, husband came back to home late than usual, so the wife asked him the reason. Then he answered that he had a meeting. The wife was relieved after she heard this. However, the wife found the mark of lipstick on the shirts, smelled out fragrance of the women’s perfume and found th e name card of the barwoman in the pocket. She asked the husband again with those things, however, the husband was irrefutable. The trust between them was back down. They couldn’t live happily after this incident. I have named several characteristics that I would like my spouse to have, but if there is one that is more important than the rest, the belief in Christianity. Religion is important for the one who believes it, so it’s very important to have a same religion with the life partner. Most of the Christian regard strong belief in Christianity as the most important element of choosing their spouse. I do QT(quiet time- get a message from god through reading a bible) almost every day. I have imagined sharing a message of god with husband every morning, just like my mother and father do every day. My mother roused my father from sleep at 6 o’clock in the morning and had a washing up. Then, they sat in the sofa and did QT together. They lived a happy life every d ay. All in due time, I’m not ready to get married yet, but I will find the man that is close to my ideal spouse and live happily in the future.
